The Buyer IV plays a crucial role in delivering our mission and achieving our goals. In this role, you will ensure proper stocking levels of products at all locations while working to maintain relationships with vendors and provide quality products for our customers. You will prepare purchasing requisitions and correspondence, verify purchasing orders, resolve discrepancies with vendors and other internal departments. You will run and analyze purchasing reports and monitor sales records and inventory levels. You will ensure materials, equipment, and supplies are ordered and delivered in a timely manner.

This position supports the Century A/C Supply business unit, and is based in Houston, TX



Responsibilities
  • Place and track purchase orders; update ETAs and resolve delays. 

  • Utilize reporting to monitor inventory levels, identify stock risks, and support excess reduction to meet inventory and sales goals. 

  • Maintain accurate item and cost data in the ERP system. 

  • Communicate with suppliers regarding lead times, pricing, and product issues. 

  • Run basic purchasing and inventory reports (usage, shortages, trends). 

  • Support sales, warehouse, and accounting teams with PO and product information. 

  • Assist with sourcing alternatives and evaluating supplier performance.

  • Appraise products, examine catalogs, industry publications and directories to find the right product or supplier

  • Negotiate prices, terms delivery, and develop relationships with suppliers

  • Collect, return, and sell or dispose of surplus stock

  • Duties subject to change as needed



Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 7+ years of experience in purchasing, buying, or related field. 
  • Experience in a wholesale/manufacturing environment is preferred. 
  • Strong analytical report building and Excel skills preferred (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, etc.). 
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and proactive mindset. 
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment. 
  • Effective communication skills with suppliers, internal teams, and leadership. 
  • Basic understanding of procurement principles, inventory management, or ERP systems.
