Description

Diversified Conveyors International (DCI) is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Buyer to support our Project Management team by procuring materials, equipment, and services required for baggage handling systems, parcel conveyor systems, and material handling projects across North America.

The Buyer will play a critical role in ensuring projects receive the necessary materials on time and within budget while maintaining strong vendor relationships and supporting overall project execution. This position works closely with Project Managers, Engineering, Manufacturing, Field Operations, Vendors, and Suppliers to ensure project procurement activities align with project schedules and customer requirements.

Requirements

Specific Responsibilities

· Compile and send RFQ’s (Request for Quotation) to potential suppliers

· Answer, or assist with answering, any questions/issues that arise during the bid process

· Review Quotations

· Review drawings, specifications, and contracts before issuing the PO for compliance to contractual documents

· Purchase general and specialized equipment and material on schedule

· Receive order acknowledgement for the PO and verify all material, pricing, delivery and shipping information is correct

· Follow up with supplier weekly to ensure procurement to the job site in accordance to the project schedule

· Redact PO Log weekly and submit to the field site manager, the onsite material manager, and the inventory manager to communicate what material is scheduled to arrive on site

· Confirm with onsite inventory manager to ensure that all material has arrived on site to support the installation schedule

· Report any problems or issues that affect the success of your project to management

· Create reports as required to keep management informed of progress and issues

· Visit job site as required to support the project

· Keep PO Log updated complete and accurate, including summary page.

· Check IFR/IFC drawings against the POs to make sure that nothing in the final design has changed and to make sure that the field is lacking nothing

· Update procurement project tracking log

· Complete any special projects as required by management


Education, Skills, and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce or Supply Chain Management preferred

3-5 years’ experience in purchasing or material management, preferred within the construction industry


Preferred Skills:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

Exceptional written and oral communication skills to include grammar, spelling, and proofreading

Superior administrative capacity to manage multiple priorities from a variety of different internal and external clients with minimal oversight

Excellent interpersonal skills with proven teamwork, participation, and a heart to serve 

Skilled in database management and recordkeeping

Able to gather and analyze information

Able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner

Position Information 

Full Time position; salary with benefits

Work Schedule: 45+ hours per week, which may include evenings and weekends

This position will work from the Memphis, Tennessee office and report directly to the Director of Procurement
