Rock West Composites, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a Buyer.  

Rock West Composites, Inc. is an engineering and manufacturing company dedicated to providing innovative solutions for commercial and government customers. This position is located in our San Diego HQ office at 7625 Panasonic Way San Diego, CA and reports to the Supply Chain Director. 

Position Summary:

The Buyer verifies requisitions, prepares and negotiates POs, and partners with Engineering/Quality to source approved or equivalent materials. Manages suppliers and commodities for composites, calculate EOQ, maintain accurate ERP lead times, and expedites deliveries to meet production schedules. Reconciles receipts vs. POs, resolves discrepancies, controls shelf-life items to reduce scrap, and uses ERP/ABC analysis to validate demand and prioritize purchases. 

Primary Position Responsibilities:

• Verifies purchase requisitions by comparing items requested to master list; clarifying unclear items; recommending alternatives. 

• Prepares purchase orders by verifying specifications and price; obtaining recommendations from suppliers for substitute items; obtaining approval from engineering or quality. 

• Obtains purchased items by forwarding purchase orders to suppliers; monitoring and expediting orders. 

• Verifies receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered; resolves shipments in error with suppliers. 

• Ability to calculate Economical Order Quantities based on material cost, lead-time, and usage. 

• Understanding of supply base, and commodities  for composite manufacturers. 

• Maintain accurate lead-times in ERP system consistent with supplier performance and needs. 

• Negotiate purchase orders based on cost, terms, and service. 

• Manage items with expiration dates to reduce overall scrap. 

• Expedite delivery of goods to users as needed to support production schedules. 

• Analyze data is ERP system to validate demand and procure ABC policies as defined. 

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Position Requirements and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent of 10 years of buying experience.  

• Purchasing certificate or APICs certification a plus.  

• Previous SAP experience a plus. 
• US. Person under 22 CFR 120 (due to ITAR Restrictions

Compensation:

The pay range for this position falls within $80,000-$110,000. The final compensation will be determined based on experience, skillset,  and other factors permitted by law.
