Job Title: Buyer 1

Reports To: Sr. Supply Chain Manager
Penn Union, located in Edinboro, PA, is a growing manufacturer of electrical connectors serving the global electrical market. We are seeking a Buyer I to join our Supply Chain team. This role is responsible for supporting procurement activities to ensure timely material availability while balancing quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct inventory procurement and planning activities, considering:
- Material quality
- Pricing and cost competitiveness
- Material receipt dates
- Customer delivery commitments
- Production schedules
- Place purchase orders with suppliers to support customer demand and production schedules.
- Attend production meetings and provide status updates on material availability.
- Track and communicate changes in production requirements and customer delivery needs.
- Maintain accurate internal communications regarding:
- Inventory receipts
- Cost discrepancies
- Supply issues that could impact production or delivery schedules
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with assigned suppliers to improve:
- Product quality
- Cost efficiency
- Supplier performance through continuous improvement efforts
- Monitor supplier delivery performance and expedite orders when necessary.
- Resolve delivery conflicts to ensure materials arrive on time and target goals are achieved.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Outlook, Word)
- Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field (preferred)
- 1 to 3 years of related purchasing or supply chain experience (preferred)
- Excellent communication, organization, and computer skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
