Job Description – Business Operations Manager



Location: Toronto (hybrid - in office 3-4 days/week)

Employment Type: Full-time

Reporting to: Chief Executive Officer

Enhanced Medical Nutrition ("EMN") is a transformational, food-as-medicine start-up that commercializes evidence-based nutrition programs to improve patient experience & outcomes in surgery.  Surgical patients are unprepared for the stress of their surgery, which can significantly increase the risk of delayed recovery, complications and even mortality. EMN has developed ENROUTE®, a surgeon-recommended nutrition program to help patients prepare better and recover faster from their surgeries. EMN is a venture-backed, food-as-medicine company led by a team of experienced entrepreneurs, medical professionals, and brand builders.

The Role:

EMN is seeking a strategic yet detail-oriented Business Operations Manager to lead alignment with company goals, support operational excellence and enable cross-functional collaboration. Your efforts will support efficiency and scalability across the organization, enabling teams to solve complex, cross functional challenges with confidence. You will balance a desire to adopt processes and systems with the pragmatic approach required in a quickly growing organization.

Key Responsibilities:



Operational Leadership & Strategy

  • Partner with Executive Leadership to define, plan and execute operational strategies that support company growth and performance goals.
  • Work with team members to translate strategic objectives into actionable operational plans and initiatives, considering cross-functional demands.
  • Monitor key operational metrics, identify trends, and work with team members to propose actions to address.

 

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Work directionally with teams to build aligned plans leading to seamless execution of priorities and initiatives.
  • Lead or support cross-functional projects, ensuring clear goals, timelines, and outcomes.
  • Facilitate communication and coordination across teams to increase cross-functional knowledge and improve performance.

 

Project Management & Execution

  • Lead special projects from concept through implementation, tracking progress and outcomes.
  • Manage competing priorities and ensure timely completion of deliverables.
  • Provide status updates and insights to leadership on project performance and operational initiatives.

 

Operational Reporting & Analysis

  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and operational summaries that support leadership and teams to understand progress and inform decision-making.
  • Analyze data to identify opportunities for performance improvement and resource optimization.
  • Use metrics and KPIs to support the organization in measuring the impact of operational changes and inform future planning.

 

Team Support & Enablement

  • Work closely with department leads to identify operational needs and resourcing gaps.
  • Provide coaching, tools, and frameworks that empower teams to work cross-functionally and improve outcomes.
  • Serve as a resource for troubleshooting business challenges that arise.

 

Process Improvement & Scalability

  • Map, analyze, and optimize core business processes to improve efficiency and cross-functional alignment.
  • Standardize procedures and documentation to ensure consistency and quality across teams.
  • Implement frameworks that enhance agility and scalability as the company grows.



Your Skills and Experience:

  • 3-6 years of experience in business operations, program management, or related roles (healthcare, startup, or high-growth environments preferred).
  • Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders having differing objectives to align on company goals and deliver desired outcomes
  • Exceptional communication skills — both written and verbal
  • Proven ability to manage lead cross-functional projects and create streamlined operational processes
  • Strong analytical aptitude with experience interpreting data and extracting insights to drive decisions.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills focused on supporting the organization to have better information, communication and clarity.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and thrive in a fast-paced environment (as well as support others to succeed in this environment).
  • Strong analytical aptitude with experience interpreting data and extracting insights to drive decisions.
  • Comfort working with tools such as CRM systems, project management platforms (Asana, ClickUp, Notion, etc.), and analytics/reporting tools.
  • Experience in a startup or mission-driven organization is a plus.
