What You’ll Do

In this role you will supervise the administrative support staff in the Commercial Transportation section. These employees work in a variety of positions including the Airport Office Building (AOB) and the Automated Vehicle Identification (AVI) office. You will have the opportunity to lead a team that delivers a significant impact to the airport on a daily basis while engaging with multiple work groups within the Parking and Transportation department.

Additionally, as the Business Operations Administrator you can expect to:

  • Identify and resolve issues encountered during daily administrative operations and determine appropriate resolutions that ensure the continuity of operations while providing a high level of customer service. Act as liaison for contractors, ground transportation operators and other entities that utilize the airport’s parking and transportation services

  • Ensure that all Commercial Revenue Permits, regulatory authority, and insurance are valid and up to date

  • Promote an environment that encourages inclusion, teamwork, innovation, high quality employee engagement, and open communication, both vertically and horizontally. Inform staff of relevant business issues and department initiative, including their impact on the organization

  • Research, develop and provide recommendations for department and/or section strategies and initiatives that move the organization forward

  • Monitor inventory and replenishment of equipment and supplies and assist with surplus of equipment and furniture

  • Work with DEN Finance to address Commercial Transportation Revenue collection issues, through PROPWorks, Workday, Revenue Collection and Reporting, AVI tags, and other software

  • Work closely with the Parking Business Operations Administrator and the Parking administrative support staff to ensure continuity of operations and provide a high level of service to the airport’s passengers and employees

  • Participate in recruitment process and selection of candidate(s) for job opening(s). Develop and modify work plans, methods and procedures, determine work priorities and develop work schedules to provide adequate staff coverage that may require creative scheduling techniques. Provides guidance and assist staff with difficult and/or unusual assignments; Assigns and distributes work, reviews work for accuracy and completeness and returns assignments with recommendations for proper completion

  • Develop performance evaluations and provide meaningful feedback while evaluating the work of an employee; provides reward and recognition for proper and efficient performance. Develop and implement training and development plans and opportunities for subordinate staff. Document causes for disciplinary action, including initiating letters of reprimand or formal recommendations for disciplinary action

  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested

Location and Schedule

  • In this role, you will work 100% on-site at Denver International Airport. Time will split between the AOB office and the Holding Lot, both located at DEN. Employee parking will be provided.

  • Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm MST

  • Schedules are subject to change based on operational need.

Our ideal candidate will also have the following skills and experience:   

  • Experience assisting the management of an Administrative Support team

  • Four years’ experience performing contract monitoring, compliance, inspection, and customer service work requiring the effective interpretation and explanation of rules, codes, regulations, and procedures

  • Strong leadership skills include change management, time management, multitasking, interpersonal communication skills

  • Creative and Innovative thinking outside the box to offer recommendations and make informed decisions

  • Previous supervisory experience and ability to work diverse staff with excellent communication, leadership, networking, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills and team player

  • Administrative experience is strongly recommended, to include Microsoft Office suites, Workday, and PROPWorks

  •  Accounts Receivable experience is helpful to resolve issues with revenue collection

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree

  • Experience: Three (3) years of experience administering business operations or operational programs and/or assisting professional/management staff with administrative or operational functions.

  • Education & Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of posthigh school education. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.

FBI Background Check

FBI criminal background check is required for all positions at Denver International Airport (DEN). Employees are also required to report any felony convictions and/or moving violations to maintain this clearance and be eligible for continued employment. By position, a pre-employment physical/drug test may be required.  

Shift Work, Snow Duties, and Emergency Incidents 

Denver International Airport is a 24/7/365 team operation. If staffing challenges arise, weather conditions warrant, or an emergency crisis occurs, all DEN employees will be required to work extended hours and/or alternative shifts (including nights, weekends, and holidays).
