About the Role 

Essity is looking for an experienced Associate Category Manager to join our team. Reporting to the Senior Category Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing market trends, consumer & shopper behavior, and sales data to provide valuable insights and recommendations that drive business growth. They will develop Category Management strategies and Planogram recommendations, leveraging strong collaboration skills to partner closely with our internal customer teams as well as building partnership with our retailers to achieve category growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel/ PowerBi / Powerpoint, a passion for translating data into insights, and 1-3 years of experience in the consumer packaged goods industry.

The ideal candidate should/could live in Oakville, ON.

What You Will Do

  • Analyze market data (Retailer POS, Nielsen Markettrack), consumer behavior, and sales trends and market share dynamics to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel to organize, manipulate, and analyze large datasets to identify patterns, trends, and insights.
  • Develop and implement short and long term category strategies aligned to business and customer growth objectives.
  • Ability to merge customer, consumer and shopper insights to develop data driven, category growth solutions and merchandising recommendations, including Best in Class Planogram recommendations.
  • Develop customer specific planogram assortment and placement recommendations based on item and category performance insights
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales and marketing, to develop strategies and tactics that align with category objectives.
  • Inform the cross functional teams on industry trends, competitor activities, and consumer preferences.

Who You Are 

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, statistics, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in the consumer packaged goods industry, preferably in a category management or analyst role.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel/ PowerBi, including advanced functions and data manipulation.
  • Familiarity with planogram space planning tools is an asset
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Familiarity with syndicated data sources (e.g., Nielsen, IRI, Numerator) and market research methodologies.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to work with large datasets efficiently.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong passion for data analysis, market research, and consumer behavior.
