Job Summary
The Area Manager (1st shift) is a frontline manager that functions as the main driver of all functions in their area of the warehouse. An Area Manager should expect to perform Data Analysis, manage employee Payroll, manage HR Functions, Performance Manage Employees, hold a high standard of Safety, and be the guiding hand of overall production in their area.
Essential Job Functions *
Productivity and Results: Provides daily direction to Leads to accomplish daily operational goals established daily through Production Meetings that happen quarterly through the workday. Analyzes Data to instruct Leads on the proper placement of employees to achieve daily goals and maintain proper balance in their own department as well as other departments.
Staffing and Staff Development: Conducts interviews for your own department as well as other departments. Directs leads to ensure all staff are properly oriented and trained, conducts performance reviews and sets goals and development plans for departmental personnel, administers corrective action as required in accordance with policy, establishes and maintains sound professional relations with all employees within the work group to ensure a high level of employee engagement.
Operational Support and Control: Actively participates in Continuous Improvement Projects as well as new policies and procedures that need to be rolled out. Works within the Dayforce system daily to manage Payroll and Attendance.
Safety and Quality of Results: Takes appropriate action to enforce safety policies and procedures, conducts safety training as necessary and according to established schedules, establishes and enforces checks of process quality to ensure compliance with established standards.

Education & Experience
Required Bachelor’s degree or equivalent of 2-3 years of Leadership Experience.
Experience with Continuous Improvement Projects Preferred.
Experience managing 20+ Direct Reports Preferred.
Competencies – Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Experience in a high volume automated multi-shift distribution center. Experience in a facility that uses conveyers, RF scanning, and pick-to-ship container methods preferred.
Comprehensive knowledge of inventory control and traffic management.
Knowledge of Word, Excel, and Windows. Able to learn and use in-house software applications such as PowerBI and PKMS.
Excellent data analysis, organization, planning, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Able to lead and motivate employees by guiding, training, and offering counsel.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
Fast-paced, standing on concrete floors up to 8 hrs/day. Exposure to loud noise. Functional vision and hearing required.
Heavy lifting up to 70 lbs., pushing/pulling up to 200 lbs.
