We’re seeking an Airport Operations & Maintenance Specialist to perform day-to-day activities supporting airfield operations at the Kingman Municipal Airport. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, security, and regulatory compliance of airport grounds, runways, taxiways, lighting systems, and infrastructure. This role supports compliance with FAA regulations, FAR Part 77, and the Airport Emergency Plan, while maintaining safe and reliable airport operations for tenants, pilots, and users.

About You:
You’re someone who is comfortable performing physical tasks while working outdoors in varying weather conditions. You’re comfortable operating vehicles, tools, and equipment, and can perform general repairs to infrastructure such as gates, fencing, and lighting systems. You take safety seriously and enjoy working independently to support daily operations while being part of a larger team effort. You communicate clearly and professionally and are willing to respond to call-backs as needed to support department functions.

What You'll Need To Be Successful In This Role

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Three to five (3-5) years of airfield operations and/or facilities and grounds maintenance experience
  • Any combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge and experience to perform the work
  • Valid Arizona Driver’s License or ability to obtain one upon hire
  • Based on assignment, may be required to participate and obtain NIMS (National Incident Management System) training certifications
  • Ability to obtain certifications to handle pesticides and herbicides within six (6) months of hire
  • Ability to successfully complete fall restraint training within six (6) months of hire
  • Ability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, or on-call and stand-by as needed 

What You'll Do For The City Of Kingman

Airfield Inspections & Safety Compliance (35%): Perform daily safety and security inspections of runways, taxiways, fencing, gates, lighting systems, and airport grounds to ensure compliance with FAA regulations and airport safety standards. Conduct foreign object debris (FOD) checks and document inspection findings.

Runway, Taxiway & Lighting Maintenance (25%): Sweep runways and taxiways, inspect and monitor airfield lighting systems, and identify issues requiring repair or corrective action. Assist in maintaining operational readiness of airfield systems and infrastructure.

Grounds & Infrastructure Maintenance (20%): Maintain airport grounds, including mowing grass in accordance with wildlife hazard management practices. Perform minor repairs to gates, hangars, fencing, and other airport facilities as needed.

Regulatory Reporting & Operational Support (10%): Assist in gathering information and preparing reports related to inspections, wildlife hazard management, incidents, and regulatory compliance. Issue Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) and assist with recordkeeping as required.

Emergency Response & Customer Service (10%): Respond to aircraft and weather-related emergencies and unscheduled requests for assistance from tenants and airport users. Communicate clearly and professionally, including use of aviation radio, to ensure safe airfield access.
