Position Summary:
The Trust and Infrastructure intern will support the VP of Trust and Infrastructure within the Operations team in fortifying the organizational backbone that allows our robotic fleet to operate securely and transparently. This role sits at the intersection of technical infrastructure, corporate compliance, and enabling a dynamic business through “Trust” as a differentiator, focusing on the systems that manage our risk and privacy posture.
- Insight Development: Evaluating current BrainOS product systems configurations and mapping internal processes against compliance frameworks (i.e. SOC 1) to identify and resolve compliance gaps.
- Practical Compliance : Translating complex audit requirements into pragmatic actionable operational workflows within our GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance) platform, Vanta.
- Cross-Functional Enablement: Partnering with Finance, Engineering, and People Ops to clarify control ownership and ensure the "Trust" mission is integrated across all business units. Support other intra-team projects within the Operations’ organization.
Anticipated Project Areas & Learning Opportunities:
- SOC 1 Module Implementation: Lead the technical rollout of the SOC 1 module within Vanta, ensuring all automated tests and manual evidence requests are configured correctly.
- Governance Documentation: Drafting and refining internal "Control Owner Guides" that simplify the technical and administrative responsibilities for stakeholders across the company.
- Security Audits: Assisting in the review of access controls for our BrainOS product and core business infrastructure and applications. Updating system data and documentation to ensure it reflects our latest best practices.
- AI & Trust Mapping: Learning and applying how to align AI standards with real-world robotic data collection.
- Business Systems Change Management: Assist with cross-team communication by maintaining a centralized deployment calendar and drafting 'Internal Release Notes' that translate technical Business Systems updates into clear, actionable impact summaries for Go-To-Market, Accounting, Operations team stakeholders.
- Other projects within the Operations organization depending on intern interests and business needs.
Final Deliverables:
- A fully operational and "Audit-Ready" SOC 1 module within the Vanta platform.
- A comprehensive Control Owner Resource Kit (Documentation/Wiki) outlining recurring tasks and evidence requirements for department leads.
- A Summer Impact Report summarizing system vulnerabilities closed and process efficiencies gained.

We are seeking someone that:
- Applicable Fields of Study: Business Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Data Science, or Technology Management.
- Available for 3 months, approximately (June - September 2026) for Internship
- Experience with GRC tools (like Vanta or Drata); a passion for AI ethics; ability to explain technical security concepts to non-technical colleagues.
Things that make a difference:
- GRC Tool Fluency: Prior experience or a very quick learning curve with GRC automation platforms (specifically Vanta, Drata, or similar).
- The "Translator" Ability: A knack for taking "auditor-speak" (e.g., segregation of duties) and translating it into plain English for busy department heads.
- Attention to Detail: An eagle eye for spotting inconsistencies in documentation, access logs, or system configurations before an auditor does.
- Process Mapping: Experience using tools like Lucidchart, Miro, or Visio to visualize business system workflows and data lifecycles.
- Security Mindset: A fundamental understanding of the "Least Privilege" principle and how it applies to business systems like Jira, GitHub, or NetSuite.
- Project Management Grit: The ability to politely but persistently follow up with stakeholders to ensure control evidence is collected on schedule.
- Interest in Robotics/AI: A genuine curiosity about how trust, privacy, and security frameworks apply to autonomous machines operating in public spaces.

Salary Range:
The anticipated hourly rate for candidates who will work in San Diego, California is $25.00-$35.00. The final hourly rate offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Brain Corp is a multi-state employer and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
