2025-2026 Temporary Summer Transportation Employment Opportunities - Various Positions

TRANSPORTATION SUMMER EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Springfield Public Schools is accepting applications from Monday, May 4, 2026 through Friday May 15, 2026 for Temporary Summer Employment in our Transportation Department.

Bus Drivers (19)

• Current SPS Bus Drivers receive current hourly rate;
• Requires Class B Commercial Driver's License and Oregon Department of Education School Bus Driver's Certificate;
• Routes operate from July 6-July 31, 2026 (variable hours);
• Some Routes may run for longer terms.
• Hours and number of days depends on route assigned and are subject to change/cancellation without notice.

 Type-10 Van Drivers (2)

• Current SPS Van Drivers receive current hourly rate;
• $18.01/hour for all others with valid credentials;
• Requires ad valid ODL and ODE Type-10 Certificate;
  
• Routes operate from  July 6-July 31, 2026 (variable hours);
• Hours and number of days depends on route assigned and are subject to change/cancellation without notice.

Transportation Bus Assistants (8)

• Current SPS EA’s will be paid their current hourly rate;
• All other SPS employees or non-SPS employees-$18.87/hour;
• Routes operate from July 6-July 31, 2026 (variable hours);
• Some Routes may run for longer terms.
• Hours and number of days depends on route assigned and are subject to change/cancellation without notice.

Utility Transportation Workers (2)

• 2 positions from July 6 - August 28, 2026.
• $18.87/hour (32 hours per week).

Assistant Driver Trainer (1)

• 1 position from July 1-August 14, 2026
• $21.63/hour (32-hours per week)
• Current SPS Assistant Trainers, current hourly rate

Note: Assignments may overlap if there are labor shortages identified by management.
